Message Initially I was reluctant to do this. However, I wanted to see how the blacked out roof bar would look; and using vinyl is a good way to experiment before doing anything more permanent. It is easily peeled back and removed, and will cause no harm to the painted finish.

Vinyl wrap can be procured from eBay or any number of retail outlets. Prices and materials vary widely. The 3M Di-NOC cost me about $45 shipped for one (1) linear foot x 48" wide. About 6" is needed to cover the center-bar.

The material is simple to work with. Two people make the job much easier. The only problem encountered was between rear side of the bar and the hatch edge. If too much material is used, the excess bunches up and gets caught on the forward edge of the hatch when opening and closing. I trimmed it short (about 3/4" overlap) and finessed it in slowly in order to make it lay flat and properly adhere to the inside painted edge.

The objective was to create the effect of a single cf bar stretching across the two B-pillars. A razor blade was used to cut clean trim lines. The painted surfaces beneath the hatch were left alone.

The center T-Top finisher was removed in order to lay the material underneath. This necessitated R&R of the interior headliner in order to access the six (6) bolts holding it, and the T-tops, to the roof structure. It is a PITA, but necessary to give the job a finished look.

A close up of the material illustrates the relief, or texture, which gives it a more authentic appearance. The previous material was too slick and shiny.

I first appled a 'printed' brand of CF vinyl, but it was too shiny and looked like cheap holiday wrapping paper. After some research I discovered the 3M Di-NOC, which is about as close in appearance to real carbon fiber as you can find in vinyl wrap material.

The carbon fiber look might be a little too ricer for my tastes and I might have the panel painted instead. However, the longer I have it on, the more I like it.
